Before
After
Like most people, I didn’t have a lot of space to work with and of all the rooms in my house I was spending 80% of my day in there. Before my office just felt “like an office’ and I was completely uninspired. In one weekend and under $100 I transformed my room into a mini-boutique and full on creative work space (complete with crystal chandelier).
Here is what I did:
1.) Determined what my power color was (pink)! Then I empied my room and painted it.
2.) I knew I needed to utilize the little closet I had in that room for clothes and office equipment. So I moved my shoes out onto shelves so that I could be reminded of how amazing they are AND save valuable space in my closet for clothes and office supplies. I purchase the shoe shelving form Ikea.
3.) The lighting was awful before. I felt like I was trapped in a hole. I’m a very girly girl and have always wanted a chandler in my room, so I headed to office depot and picked on up for under $50!
It doesn’t take a whole lot of money or time to create an inspiring space but it’s absolutely essential that the place you work in inspires creativity. Start with looking online or in your favorite magazines of spaces that inspire you. Clip out furniture, fabric, and photo graph ideas that you LOVE. Then give yourself a budget and timeline. My greatest finds are usually from local thrift stores!
Start with a vision and create a space you’ll love to work in 365 days out of the year.
